PERFECT DAY!!!!

Ahhhhh.......the all so important TITLE TRACK of the album! Uplifting, energetic, grabs you right by the hand and gives it a hearty shake! It was the obvious choice for numero uno on the album. But, (you ask), where did the song come from and what it is all about? Well, that's the best part!!! I have no idea!!! It's just one of those songs that comes to you like an obscure random memory from your childhood suddenly rediscovered via a strand of lead-based tinsel or an ancient scent floating on the wind. You just grab whatever you've got to write with and whatever you've got to write on (FYI...be sure you're wearing a shirt you don't care too much about before making the impulsive decision to write all over it)and when your hand finally stops, the song is finished and you just sort of ponder it's origin. Those always seem to be my favorite songs because I feel like it is what it is and I don't second guess chord changes or timings like a song I may have labored over for hours. When I consciously write a song it is usually in the first person and from a male perspective. The subject of this song appears to be a woman who has been going through some sort of difficulty in her life which all seems to wash away, at least for the moment, by this perfect beach setting. Maybe in looking at the ocean, she sees how trivial her problems actually are and for a moment she is looking at a larger picture of life, free from all the daily imperfections. We kicked around the idea of doing a video for this song with a female alien who travels to Earth in her spaceship from her own wartorn planet, discuises herself as a human woman in a bikini just to spend a day at the beach before flying back out into space. We even had a senario where she picks up a guy at the beach, they "do it", and we see her in the end flying back home in her spaceship pregnant. The first alien/human baby. Now, if that doesn't make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside then I don't know what will!

Thanks. We write songs that make ourselves smile and it's just a bonus when someone else smiles too.
