Hmmm.....what to say about this one. This was one of the first songs written for the "Perfect Day" album and has the rare distinction of being one of the few songs we performed live long before this album was released. It's very personal in it's lyrics and deals with my religious beliefs mixed with thoughts I have on failure and judgementalism. For some reason I had difficulty staying on tune for this track. We must have recorded the vocals 20 or 30 times before settling on the one that made the album (which still has some off notes in it). In some ways I don't mind the off key notes though because the song is basically about imperfection and how we judge others and ourselves for those imperfections. The recording was missing something and Damon Pipitone had the idea to play those subtle notes played on the piano. Thanks Damon.
